Dude. Had the issue been the military campaign, they'd have been excluded in 2008. EBU never had issues with participants starting invasions and doing war crimes.
comment in response to
post
And that comes with not even mentioning russian paramilitaries butchering entire villages in Africa and killing Syrians. Human rights were never a concern for the EBU. War crimes were never a concern either. Had they been, Russia would be banned from participating in 2008 already.

Dude. Russian invasion of Ukraine started in 2014.
In 2008, they invaded Georgia. In 2009, EBU happily allowed them to stage a military - infested Eurovision with a pink tank on the stage. Less than a year after they ethnically cleansed areas of Georgia.
Military aggression was never an issue.
comment in response to

the aggression itself didn't matter, EBU wanted to allow Russia to compete until the channels went fully wild. This was fully a business decision, not a moral nor a political one.
The calls to exclude Israel should come from the same position to be effective, not from that simplification.
comment in response to

it's because VGTRK and Channel One are both tools of Russian propaganda financed directly from the state budget. If you get any of those Russian propagandist shows where they celebrate how they'll bomb the EU itself and genocide Ukraine, all of it is done by former partners of EBU.
comment in response to

russia wasn't excluded because of its military campaign, Sanchez seems to be trying to get votes from idiots.
There are ways to compare russia and Israel regarding the EBU, but this take has got to be one of the dumbest possible attempts to do that.
comment in response to
post
Bruh this isn't about your retarded opinions.
EBU didn't disqualify russia "for being at war". Nobody is getting disqualified "for being at war".
comment in response to
post
That is irrelevant. You yourself have chosen to judge them based on that criteria, not EBU.
comment in response to
post
None of them were judged on the basis of "being at war". Ukraine itself is a victim of a foreign invasion, punishing them for it would be a baffling choice to make.
russia wasn't disqualified for "being at war". EBU happily allowed them to compete while engaged in warfare and ethnic cleansing.
comment in response to

Bruh I never said it's okay, get real ๐
I said the comparison doesn't make sense. You're expecting EBU to ban Israel for political/moral reasons, which would be setting a precedent.
I'm not against it being set. I am against pretending EBU was somehow uniquely charitable towards Ukrainians.
comment in response to
post
It doesn't make sense. russia was banned because they didn't respect the EBU rules. They competed while killing Georgians, Syrians, Ukrainians, and funding paramilitaries to butcher entire villages in Africa.
Their ban wasn't done for moral nor political reasons.
comment in response to
post
Absolutely. russia was happily competing while ethnically cleansing Georgia, while killing Syrians, while invading Ukraine, while sending paramilitaries to kill ENTIRE VILLAGES all over Africa.
Their ban was not done out of moral nor political reasons, but because they refused to follow EBU rules.

Tbf it was a fun song. I voted because I want more songs like that encouraged, hate the boring entries.
comment in response to

Bruh Israel gets votes precisely because of politics, haven't you noticed their songs are mid?
Also it's true UK doesn't get votes because of politics too.
Eurovision is, and will always be, inherently political. Pretending otherwise leads to nowhere.
comment in response to
post
Ay, if history taught us anything not only would they happily host, but they'd do it with strong military imagery, similar to russia 2009.
Eurovision being politically "neutral" is a way of spitting right into our faces.
comment in response to
post
The Swiss being *proud* of their neutrality will never make sense to me. What an idiotic thing to be complicit with, pretending the "good" and "brutal" are equal. Fucking baffling.
comment in response to
post
How are you pretending Ukraine is comparable to either? That's idiotic.
russia wasn't banned because of the war, Eurovision was more than happy to allow them in while they ethnically cleansed Georgia and Ukraine itself. They only stopped participating because they didn't follow EBU rules.

Without naming the official, this type of "reporting" is just manipulative drama farming.
Anyone falling for it after the "poor waif in his underwear" debacle is either intentionally dishonest, or plain stupid.

Israel joined Eurovision in 1973 my man D: I'm not sure this post makes sense as a reply concerning your other post

There's no hole in the narrative. It was never about being "European", which is why countries obviously not in Europe, like Australia, and those whose being "European" is debatable, like Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia, can all participate.
It was always about EBU membership.

Realistically Belgium was ass too, the voting was proper on all three countries mentioned.
If anyone deserved the qualification more, they'd have gotten more votes. That's kinda how the entire contest works.

If Fidias has a million haters I'm one of them. If Fidias has 1000 haters I'm one of them. If Fidias has one hater that's me. If Fidias has 0 haters that means I have left this world.
If the world is against Fidias I am with the world. If the world is for Fidias I am against the world.

One cannot genuinely be a Leftist while supporting the Russian Federation and their invasion. Hasan has no values to build a political position from, he is just pretending otherwise.
His lack of involvement in local politics is another clear sign. Man's legit less involved than goddamn Destiny.

Fuck Hasan and idiots watching him, but this might be the only thing he's actually good at.
If only he applied the same amount of effort into researching foreign political situations before spewing bullshit, he might legit become a proper voice for the online "Left". Now he's just a grifter.

Remigration plans don't make that distinction, they are based in chauvinism only.
