I didn't say that. I literally *only* said that a campaign of demoralizing would not be effective. You are throwing me into the soup with other people who are saying other things. If you think a campaign of demoralizing would get them to stop sending people to concentration camps, go for it 100%.

Me: Demoralizing the demoralizers is not an effective way for the dems to return to power, because 1) the GOP is better at demoralizing, and 2) it will not build a better and more humanistic culture. You: So what you are saying is that you won't lift a finger to defend people from nazis

When the GOP's aim is to legislate dehumanizing stuff, a campaign of demoralization is the way to go. But if *we* respond with more demoralization & expect that to yield a more ethical and humanistic culture… it won't. (a moot point, as dems can't begin to compete where demoralizing is concerned)

Asking sincerely, can you point me to an example where this worked? But also, longer-term, either humans will evolve in a direction that recognizes and celebrates our shared humanity, or we will destroy ourselves. Demoralizing only begets more demoralizing. But it sure feels cathartic.

Okay but if you think that demoralizing the other side is a winning strategy… That may be a part of how the weirdoes "win", but we still *all* end up losing.

Thinking about all the great living artists who brought her stories to life, and how few of them have any remaining respect for her, yet in her head she is still certain that she is in the right and they are all misguided bullies… I am so grateful for friends who call me out when I need them to.

I believe this 100% If you enjoy a rich, well-regulated emotional life you will not go around dehumanizing and subjugating people. You will be too busy experiencing your own sensations, feelings, and insights to want to harm anyone. And you won't try to resolve your own discomfort by lashing out.

the incompetence and fascism are the points

well, yeah, and I'm also thinking about the vast number of people who do have voting privileges who don't bother to vote and thus could be said to not mind whether there is fascism or democracy

While the whole world may not be *against* trans people, the bigots are very loud, violent, scary, and currently in power. When the lazy stupid folks who swallow the propaganda do nothing to stop them, while your allies are politically hamstrung, it sure feels like the whole world is against you.

It's a little late for that question mark, isn't it? The grifter is in charge and he now has an All-You-Can-Grift buffet alongside an All-You-Can-Indict buffet
