On the way to the border and the DMZ sits the “Rockpile” - US troops spent a week at a time on its summit during the American War as it was the only high ground around. Very little shelter. I had my 35RC with me. #filmPhotography #VietnamStories

Monday morning’s 30 seconds from Pingle Wood.

Our Son James who was seriously ill 18 months ago before being diagnosed with Addisons Disease (see latest Dr Who) gets married on Thursday. I shall take just one camera - the Pentax 17 and HP5 - nothing else is necessary.

Sunday’s 30 seconds from Pingle Wood

Yesterday’s #VietnamStories prints made, so many more to go. Onto the 35RC images now. #filmphotography #darkroom #believeinfilm

www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/.... This is worth a listen - in the context of modern day politics of self and isolationism.

I have an updated Project Statement for "The Stones We Throw" now live on my photography blog. I'm hoping I can find a sponsor for this project who will allow me to legally work in the EU #photography #filmphotography #karma #photoessay #artproject rosehlacroix.wordpress.com/2025/02/25/t...

No camera in sight but home made crispy chilli beef and egg fried rice was superb if I do say so - washed down with some Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc…:::

The Olympus 35 RC and the Pentax 17 were the perfect travel companions when we were in Vietnam in February. Making darkroom memories. #believeinfilm #filmphotography

The light grey tiles behind my sink are a good place to “stick” a print for evaluation- often I’ll stand outside also. In the end this needed a bit of work with a grade 00 filter. There really is no substitute for the delicate controls a darkroom offers #believeinfilm #filmphotography

On my way to the darkroom I closed the door on one of my (fortunately) spirit thermometers……

In the back streets of Hue we found Bob Marley #FilmPhotography #Darkroom #Olympus35RC #FP4CineFilm #believeinfilm

Today’s 30 seconds from Pingle Wood - a “mindful” moment….

Mum and Dad are both super busy in the daytime feeding these mouths and removing the fecal sacs…..

Mum and Dad are both busy - Mim is feeding one minute then removing the fecal sacks the next.

Back from repair… When I bought it the advert said the winder was tired sounding So as soon as I got used to it, I dropped it in for repair to have a look at it. Drive gears and film take up repaired Service completed and ready to go. Cameratiks as ever #filmphotography #xpan

Another roll of #HalfFrameStories complete… #filmphotography #believeinfilm

The barley is coming on but I’m sure a bit of rain would help, the nesting skylarks are singing in the fenland skies above.

Most days when I’m not working I do the same three mile circular walk taking me in and around Pingle wood. Every day the light is different revealing things one day that are worthy of the Pentax 17 and other days not. Today I made several photos of a dogwood under perfect gentle light.

Looks like there’s been an overnight massacre on the fallen log…..

30 seconds from the fallen log in Pingle wood.

Remember there’s nothing virtuous in sharing an “un edited” image - the final vision only comes through after the “score” has been “performed” in the “lightroom” or the “darkroom” I could go on but hey…:::

Been using Watson film loaders for over 35 years I guess and they are excellent. Haven’t used one in a few years but muscle memory is an awesome reality. The roll of HP5 I’ve just developed from the Pentax 17 looks amazing. It’s good to return to the old standards…. #believeinfilm

The path home

Being unfaithful to the Pentax 17

30 seconds of woodland sounds

Wild garlic still in full bloom along the cutting

Today in the land of the semi retired I am currently in Pingle wood half way round my morning walk and it’s getting toastie - perfect darkroom weather for later after I’ve done a few domestic jobs.

This is an interesting read, our Dad Robert John Bartram was also in the 4th Royal Norfolk Regiment captured as Singapore fell to the Japanese and spending the duration in Changi Prison. He only ever hinted at the barbarity he and his fellow prisoners experienced. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
