I have Global Entry, it gives access to TSA Pre and simplified migrations process.
In the US, I never have to take out my laptop, liquids or shoes.
Out of the US, your mileage may vary, but most checkpoints still ask you to get your liquids out of the bag and your computer or tablet flat on a bin.

The process is the same everywhere. I recently flew overseas and they even ask you to remove shoes and non-metallic belt.
They also ask to take your computer, Kindle and phone from your bag and put them in the tub.
I'm not sure why, perhaps their machines are older and less accurate?

Stash everything in jacket pocket while waiting in line.
Drop jacket on X-ray machine, no tray (unless forced to).
Walk through scanner.
