Juneteenth was a moment of the government finally righting a wrong. It is a day of remembrance but I would not call it a celebration. Those poor people should have had their freedom sooner and that neglect should be remembered so it is never repeated.

I’ve tried so many times. My son straight up hates books. Like since a baby. He just doesn’t like it. I read in front of him to model the behavior, I have him point at the pictures and count and name things. He still hates it.

I disagree. Religion is used to justify hatred. But that hatred comes from within. Some is taught but a lot is a deep inner desire to be better than someone.

And defund schools. And pay teachers less than living wage. And make them buy school supplies out of their own pocket. And make parents buy school supplies too. And allow political committees to determine which books and subjects will be the curriculum.

People become overwhelmed and tune out when problems are too big and misinformation is too rampant. Narrowing down to one story helps attack the problem in a way that is more efficient at keeping public attention and empathy

I can’t help but imagine my four year old in this courtroom, terrified, crying, not having any idea what is happening or how to respond. Makes me tear up

I paid $14k out of pocket after insurance doing what it does for the birth of my first child. My second was around $3k out of pocket (I had better insurance and a less complicated birth)

I disagree. Many people grow up in fairly benign families. And how you are raised shapes your worldview. So while people hear about toxicity and abuse they assume that is extremely rare because it didn’t happen to them. They assume all families are happy/healthy other than minor squabbles.

Wage-based jobs aren’t the best, but I do love that they take taxes out every month so I never even see that money. And then I get a refund every year because they took out too much. It feels like getting a springtime bonus

True leaders for change are not chosen by the powerful. They arise in times of crisis and become who they will be organically. I believe Tim Walz might be this person

The outcome of the war is a lot less about the lack of information for Ukraine and a lot more about the use of that information by Russia. What happened to our damned country?!
