This is the same "yes, I knowingly bought a product from an absolute monster, but it's ok when *I* do it because reasons" bullshit we get from people trying to justify still buying harry potter merch. Buying the fucking thing shows your material wants are more important to you than your morals.

We already failed to do it once, post civil war, and I doubt we'll get it right this time either. Establishment Dems are useless, and are determined to be friends with their Republican counterparts. Essentially collaborators. Barring full on revolution, we aren't fixing shit.

Slightly serious answer: have you seen how trigger happy cops are here? Actual serious answer: murder is a very hard line to cross, and as bad as shit has been for a long time now, people are probably only now starting to get desperate enough to actually consider it as a means for change.

My cynical side is thinking this could kick off actual gun law reform, if a few more CEO's get shot. The people in power obviously don't care if the peasants are getting gunned down, but if their wealthy donors start getting picked off...

Considering how overwhelmingly stupid and arrogant the ruling class is, I don't think they understand that laws and legal consequences applying to them too is the part of the social contract that keeps the guillotines put away.
