I’ve an award winning podcast about all that’s weird and a little off kilter in the town of Biggleswade and Bedfordshire. History with a pinch of the paranormal, folklore & urban legends. I also like cake, cats, beating bosses and disability rights.

If you are interested in black shuck and dog folklore he does crop up in the next episode of Weird in the Wade. But later this year I’m making an episode all about haunted hounds. Shucks and other phantom dogs. Have a story then let me know!

Talking of non English ghosts @embroideredyeti.bsky.social I’m meeting the deputy mayor of Erlensee in a few weeks time! I’ve not forgotten about this episode. It’ll take some time in the planning but hope to visit Germany next spring 😊

Thank you @ken6-11.bsky.social @jefferyparsnip.bsky.social @bloodyshellken.bsky.social for organising the #uncannylistenalong and @dannyrobins.bsky.social and team for a dark and terrifying tale which shone a light on the horrors of war.

The history of Julio’s house and the Spanish civil war is terrifying. Truly awful. Such trauma and horror. #uncanny

Is this a demon ferret? #uncanny

Sphincter alert! #uncanny #uncannyBingo

@bloodyshellken.bsky.social gets a shout out whoooooooo hooooooooo Is that Julio?

Here we go! #UncannyListenAlong

Be careful around cross roads!

I love an Uncanny listen along! 👻

The 13th is a significant date in the history of the Golden Pheasant pub in Biggleswade not once but twice. 155 years ago today (13/06/1870) Anne Larman was tragically killed on the railway lines in Biggleswade. Some think her ghost may haunt her old work place, the Golden Pheasant. 1/2

#FingerPostFriday This Way, That Way, finger post from Folkestone.

How I take criticism

Great news that this site is safe! Peterborough museum has a reconstruction of the POW camp and the items the French soldiers carved. It’s well worth a visit. Especially as the museum is haunted! I find the POW bit really spooky.

Many listeners tell me that they really enjoy the on location recordings I make, in the woods or fields around Biggleswade. If you really want to get a great fix of fantastic soundscapes from around the UK do check out @radiolento.bsky.social who specialise in just this. radiolento.podbean.com

One of the many things I love about Folkestone is to reach the beach, you have to walk a zig-zag path through what feels like the backdrop to an RPG. I expected a talking gull to appear and offer me a side quest. Your reward at the end, as well as mermaid beach, are pretty pastel beach huts.

So who would like some “Weird in the Wade - Beside the Seaside” episodes next year then???? I’d love to make some because part of my childhood was in Newquay Cornwall and I have good links to the Fife coast, and the south coast of England as well.

This Bedford cemetery looks well worth a visit. It is peak Bedfordshire though. The cousin of Alan Turing, is buried there but no one actually famous. There’s a great story about a dog! Events mark Bedford cemetery that is 'full of history'

The last rainy day we had (Thursday) I sheltered at the former haunted Poundstretcher now Jones’ cafe, with a pot of tea and Aggie for company. 👻😊 #cosy

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside…

Oh now I’m thinking of a Pan’s Labyrinth creature. #uncanny
