I hesitate to say it, but no matter how badly Trump screws things up in Iran -- abandoning Obama's nuclear deal, starting a probably illegal war -- I think a nuclear-armed Iran would be even worse for the world. I just wish our safety didn't depend, once again, on the worst possible person.

Sheriff Ivey is being a dick, but this is normal police rules of engagement. Thrown bricks, firebombs, and pointed guns are all considered deadly threats and police everywhere in the U.S. can shoot you for it. In fact, if somebody attacked you that way, you could shoot back too. (Not legal advice.)

I think I'd say that it probably wasn't that serious 40 years ago, which would have made it MUCH EASIER TO STOP. You don't stop the next Hitler/Mussolini/Stalin by waiting until you smell the smoke of burning bodies.
