I have been trying for 3 weeks to get my UK ETA. Every single time, it fails at payment. It's a multi-stage process that requires me to have my passport, take specific scans and photos, and enter a perfectly reasonable amount of info. And then it just... fails. Every. Time.

This is actually the fault of the Permanent Apportionment Act of 1929, which unconstitutionally capped the size of the House at the 435 seats determined by the 1910 census. We have a legislature based on the year California had 2.3M people. Both chambers have shifted power from people to land.

I recently asked an agency contracting officer how she learned about IT. She said she wanted to learn the basics so she enrolled in a “low-level” programming class, not realizing that’s hard core. She was months into learning assembly before she discovered her mistake, so she rolled with it. Wow.
