Losing my mind because I got an ARC of @wnwagner.bsky.social's new book! 🥰

wow I wonder if the cops who lied about the sitting senator even though everything they did was on tape are also being less than honest about the presence of violent agitators at the protests in los angeles. they might even not have told the entire truth about other protests

I’m teaching at residency all week and will not be at StokerCon because of it. I’m bummed because I wanted to hang out with my friends and because House of Bone and Rain is up for a Stoker, which is always a huge honor. Anyway, get you some books so I can go next year!

I'm really glad I restarted my meditation practice because ping-ponging between really awesome stuff (like fun writing events and connecting with wonderful people) and the nightmarish practices of the fascists hell-bent on destroying my country is kind of a lot.

I especially appreciated Silky's record-keeping here, showing how this escalation of state violence is a reaction to and workaround for previous victories, and placing it within the expansion of authoritarianism & the infrastructure of detention. A big view that's grim but helpful.

yep! unpaywalled:

shut it down, Senator no more unanimous consent agreements, no cosponsoring legislation, no cooperation on anything until ICE is off the streets and the Trump regime falls do it now before they start throwing bags over your heads

It’s not illegal for a United States Senator to go to a public press conference and ask questions about your constituents safety. It's our job.

House Democrats need to bring articles of impeachment against Kristi Noem, while Senate Democrats need to bring that chamber to a fucking halt.

The senator identified himself and they were excited to throw him to the ground and cuff him.

People need to understand, talk to the historians, when the government is putting hands on their opposition in the government, that's deep totalitarianism. That's what any brutal scary empire ruled by an autocrat from the ages looks like. So wake up if you think the America you live in is not that.

We drill into military officers that Members of Congress have Constitutional oversight rights, Members outrank four-stars in protocol, and even Congressional staffers are treated like generals/admirals. To see sworn federal officers manhandle and handcuff a U.S. Senator... I'm still shook up.

I think California needs to start arresting Feds. drastic but we’re there.

Working on a story about LAPD's tactics and use-of-force during protests in the past week. If you've been out there, or injured by a horse, rubber round, etc., feel free to DM me. Would love to hear about your experience.

I'm on my way to the Senate floor to talk about the assault on my colleague, Senator Alex Padilla. This is a horrifying moment in our nation’s history.

If you've ever wanted to read a story told from the perspective of a motherly coyote infected with a mind-influencing fungus, NOW IS YOUR CHANCE. Meet one of the many POV characters from GIRL IN THE CREEK!

And if you're worried about violence this weekend, imagine how much worse it'll be if there's no immediate action to hold *these* assholes accountable. If they get away with roughing up a senator at a press conference, then protesters will be killed. It's a straight line.

I was hanging up Know Your Rights posters in the neighborhood and had a nice chat w/a guy also flyering (for something else). He hadn't heard that ICE was taking people off the streets without warrants. Talk to your neighbors, if you can. A lot of people don't know what's going on!

Spent the morning doing thrilling stuff like filing receipts and updating data in spreadsheets. Then I paid my taxes like an actual adult!

anyone who got on social media after 2014 or so is under the mistaken impression that the primary goal of social media is for it to Accomplish Something while those of us who have been on since the start know the true purpose of social media is to give us a place to Post so we don't go (more) insane

Two unmarked vehicles pinned a car in Boyle Heights today. Officers then shot tear gas into the car where a one-year-old and a woman were passengers. All to arrest a man who allegedly assaulted a CBP officer. I was at those protests. That officer likely assaulted him www.latimes.com/california/s...

Meta launched a stand-alone AI app and now it is full of sensitive content from Facebook users who appear to be unaware that they have made their conversations public: www.businessinsider.com/mark-zuckerb...
