really, they should be chasing the Home Counties vote, unless they've done a deal with the Libs not to?

if he asks, he's annoying...if he doesn't ask, he's insensitive (or doesn't care)...sometimes we can't win (and don't know why).

all political parties want to cut taxes, but then how are you going to pay for extra BF staff? let alone all the extra policing they all keep going on about...

yes, I have a dog. i've always had dogs. I can tell the difference between a happy bark, a chatty bark, and a cry for attention bark. I think that's what the anon post is about. A cry for attention bark is a loud one, and tends to go on for a while IME.

dogs bark for a reason, so people whose dogs bark a lot should probably not be allowed to have dogs.

as a walker, I took this for granted until my mum became wheelchair bound. I had to plan our walks around which streets in our town had wide paths (ie no cars parked there) and fewest obstructions (uneven pathing slabs). It was a proper nightmare.

Ah yes, I forgot that part.

surely the single greatest piece of film music must be the 007 theme by John Barry? Incidentally, the man who also wrote the greatest tv them ever (the persuaders)?

the thing that always freaks me out about men pissing in the sink is the question of whether or not they clean the sink out afterwards?

Social Care...blame the Tories for killing it off...plus very few people want to be a carer, so they get immigrants (pay them peanuts) and hope for the best...will get worse too as we all age, and make it less inviting for overseas carers...

I often look at these bed fesses, and wonder how often these people (I'm assuming this is a man) actually change their bedsheets?

Your mum knows you're wrong, but loves you and does this to make you happy. Cherish these moments (and memories).

Farage is a threat to the Tories - not Labour...and the votes combined for a Lab / Lib coalition means Reform can only get so far...without the media support (ie print newspapers that sell less copies every day), then Farage would be irrelevant.

I agree, but you still need to set the scene...(and the context)..how can you enjoy the story if you can't picture the scene in your head? that's the power of the written word..
comment in response to

is this for real? you need to visualise the setting in your mind, otherwise how are you going to understand what you're reading, let alone enjoy it...

WFP should be means tested. I suspect a lot of the people against this are those who received it when they didn't need it.

I've this at least 5 times now, and still don't get it. At best, I can only assume the author is 16yrs old & just discovered the young ones.

getting into a freshly made bed at nighttime is the best feeling ..however if you have to get up in the night for a wee (over 50yrs old now), then getting back into an unmade bed is bearable...

I can drive, but I'd rather not. I don't drive for work & public transport is okay...plus I walk..However, I'm an anxious driver (too many wankers on the road), so I also choose not to drive. I reckon you just don't know the difference between 'don't' & 'can't'.

I'm pretty sure most of the English speaking world spells these words the same way... it's probably only pettiness (or spite) that the north Americans spell differently.

not sure I agree...I think if you read the novel first, you're going to have an idea in your head about how it should look & act out. If you've become emotionally attached to the book, any adaptation is likely to disappoint you. Human imagination is the most potent thing on the planet.

Seeing as the Home Counties swapped Tories for LibDems, even if we switched to PR, there would still be enough votes on the centre/left(ish) to keep out the right - probably forever.

personally, it's good for my mental health to keep away from the news 24/7. I stick to the BBC for breaking news.

so, you mean the song's writers should not be allowed to sell their work anymore? (okay, it's not as if they're broke, but that's not the point).

but you'd still be doing 5 days of work in 4...and it's a bit stressy when you know the rest of the world wants their stuff done before they go home for the weekend...

Home Counties will never go for Reform, but won't vote Labour either..however, a Liberal / centre left majority will keep the rightists out - with either FPTP or PR.

the question, really, is are they going to slash council funds (you know, too much bureaucracy) or are they going to improve council services (you know, lighting, policing, libraries, social care, etc). And then who will they blame if they can't?
