It was a great opening show!

Creeper have got two frontpersons who can command the stage. They often play two Hannah lead vocal songs in a row and she commands the stage as much as Will does. And they're only getting better.

I saw them open for Alice Cooper on Sex, Death and even though they only had 4 or 5 songs, you could see that they belonged on that kind of stage - and that was the O2!

That's entirely fair. It took me a little bit for it to click, but there was enough pace in the punky stuff & the sloganeering style of their lyrics caught me. I also wasn't doing great at that time, so the melancholy resonated with me. The big pompous rock band they've grown into is tremendous tho

It's absolutely nailed on.

Anecdotally, I've seen that people are planning on congregating outside the stadium to listen to the show. She'll announce plans to put up a big screen with £10 entry to Aston park soon.

They're brilliant. I got into them on the first album because of how much That's Not Metal gushed about it, and I thought the praise was too high to not check out. I loved the development they've made with each album and I'm really excited by the direction the new single is suggesting.

Because it's fun?

No More Lies is rumoured to have been one of the Blaze-written tracks that were bought off of him when he left the band, to your point about it sounding like it could be on TXF/VXI.

Yeah, I was aware that Megadeth "were" a band when I first heard them, and was pleasantly surprised with the comeback, without knowing quite how big a deal it was.

Yeah sorry, that's a wild take, Ant. 😅 In My Darkest Hour alone places SFSGSW high up there, for me. This isn't very Voice of Reason of you, haha.

TSHF and United Abominations are probably higher in my list than they would be for others, but the run between 86-94 (depending on mood for some slower material!) is undeniable.

My first new album was The System Has Failed, but I bought Peace Sells a couple of months before. I still love the lineup with the Drovers, as that was my first time seeing them. But it's a knife fight between Peace, So Far and Rust for my favourite album.

This one, you've made the list for, though. You can't call Motörhead of the late 70s/early 80s, late 80s/early 90s, and 2000s the same sounding band. And I prefer the 2000s Motörhead to the first Motörhead lineup, because they were my first lineup, but also because the material is really good.

I make a list of all of the new releases that sound like they should interest me, and I listen to a good amount of the shortlist. I often get three tracks in and realise it's not good enough and never go back to it. I've discovered some good stuff this way, though.

The best kind of pop to aim for.

I think the gig has officially sold out tonight, for what it's worth.

Book it.

Last time I saw Tygers was at The Dome, so I'd take seeing Metallica there, hahaha

Maiden very often play it safe with setlists. This is ultimately a greatest hits tour, that is playing to a lot of stadiums. There's no need to hear Wrathchild again and their sets are more interesting without RTTH, TNOTB and Trooper, but there's a lot of casuals on this tour.
comment in response to post
Apart from the obvious staples, I'm very happy with that setlist! The missing thing was very funny, really, too.

*Wrathchild again, actually

This is a phenomenal start. The biggest disappointment so far is The Number of the Beast!
comment in response to post
Hahaha! I just know that Maiden can play it quite safe, even if Bruce is talking the good talk. I've got no idea what the "first time ever" track(s) might be, but I'd guess - and love - Judas Be My Guide.

Oh no, how terrible. How can I politicise this to my benefit??

I got sent a tweet about what happened in Liverpool yesterday and made the mistake of looking through the replies for about five minutes. I had to put my phone down and walk away from it. Fucking scum.

The Rock was ahead of his time.

The Darkness had one recently.

I fear that we'll Elneny him to make his recovery at the club, rather than throwing him into the nearest bin.

Live albums are usually much better than a greatest hits.

We should do it more often, imo

And Maiden are hands and above my favourite band. I love recent albums, but if they stopped using Kevin Shirley (just go the Priest route and work with Sneap; his work with Blaze is brilliant, too), then I'd lose my mind just at the prospect of how good it could be.

I'm a big "long Maiden song" apologist, but if they released a 40-50 minute album with eight tracks and one song over seven minutes, it might be my favourite thing they've released in 20 years, despite the evidence against their recent <5 minute songs.
