The original quoted post has the archived version if you want the full thing. It's worth it as an extended example of deep, unresolved self-loathing.

The repeated refrain in the piece of 'We said we would leave their children alone' is quite sickening, like LGBTQ+ folk made some reluctant agreement to stop being paedos for the sake of a rights campaign. Which is especially ironic framing when he then starts talking about kids' first orgasms. π

I like to point out that GC talking points about the 'dangers of transactivism' are hypothetical ad absurdum arguments that are very similar to anti-abortion tactics, whereas everything pro-trans rights folk have warned about is not just actually happening, but has been facilitated by GCs.

Every time I talk to terfs, their examples of 'hateful trans activism' are screenshots they've collated of contextless Twitter hyperbole or stuff from the darkest recesses of reddit or tumblr. They seem to think confirmation bias is the scientific method.

Well, that tracks given that her original bs tweet attacking the article on people who menstruate was entirely based on the headline of an article that talked solely about women and girls.

Oh absolutely.

For all their talk of 'dismantling patriarchy', I've never met one of them who didn't just want to continue the patriarchal power structures with themselves calling the shots instead.

I remember the pearl-clutching some of the GCs did at the idea that butches found it arousing to be perceived as guys, especially during sex. They wanted to keep us as token homely, innocent sorts that like wearing flannel and comfortable shoes to contrast with their demonising of trans women.

GCs are just like pro-lifers in their tactics and the disingenuous claims of concern for the welfare of the individuals seeking care. We know driving things underground only increases risks. Those of us DIYing without access to monitoring is the new wire coathangers & the blame lies with GCs.

Yes. I've come to this perspective from the starting point of 'Born This Way' narratives. I absolutely believe I was, but I don't need to be just so I can cravenly beg & ask permission from someone to be myself. Default cishet is maintained by even entertaining the question 'Why are you...?'

Personally, it doesn't make sense to me to respond to anyone telling you something about their identity by saying 'No, you're not'.

49 this year and did it for the sideburns.
Not really, but they did turn out to be one of the best bits.

Oh, sadly, some of the gold star sapphics have this issue too. But yes.

When I told someone I wasn't non binary, after they wanted to use it as a catch-all for every identity they didn't understand, they told me that whatever I did, I was always inside or outside the binary, and they couldn't accept that it might not be a good thing to be put in an 'outside' bucket.

Helen Joyce was absolutely transparent when she said every trans person is a problem in a sane world. It has always been a campaign to tighten the criteria to the point of vanishing.

The guidance & ruling apply to both trans women and trans men. It's single-sex means sex at birth, but it's also if cis people are uncomfortable with someone's 'appearance or attributes' wrt gender, that person can be excluded from the service even if it's the 'right' one according to this ruling.

The preening arrogance to say to people who are now facing the keen edge of Labour's right wing lurch, who could see it was coming and begged for the left wing to act, that you are better than them cos you hoped that the openly right wing leader would actually not be right wing is JAW-DROPPING.

I was told that having no access to public facilities because I'm now 'too masculine' was the consequence of me 'breaking the social contract'. Painfully ironic that they complain about us 'changing the meaning of words' while they call themselves 'gender critical feminists' with a straight face.

Yeah, the traffic was nuts. But it was pretty cool to see the Canadian system in action for the first time.

This is why they have their token gnc pet butch lesbians. They need us to perform our obsequious, voluntary punchbag routine. They need a second tier who take our punishment for non-conformity so they can enforce conformity on the majority. It's all it was ever about, not 'safety'.

Yep. The ruling was quite thoroughly in support of the broader agenda of removing all trans ppl from public life, though the undoubted prime target was trans women.

100% yes. Visibility isn't a privilege in a culture that will beat you down for it. I'm sorry those of us with privilege don't consistently use it like we should.

It's obnoxious that this is framed as 'trans boycott', too. A handful of potential sponsors said, 'We don't like that your forum is full of unchecked bigotry and bullying, it's not a good look for us'.

They have always been the ones most likely to face aggression in those spaces. I'm fortunate enough to pass and be very good with an stp at a urinal, but for a long time I used the ladies and got endless hassle. The goal is to stop harassment of anyone, not stoke more fear. /2

We will be allowed to exist as second class citizens so long as we perform the shibboleths and uphold the current system that privileges the 'real' women who perform appropriately by being suitably feminine or at the very least procreating. /3
