I bang on about this a lot but I can still vividly remember my brother picking it up on cassette while on holiday and listening to it in the car on the way back to London, my tiny little mind completely blown

I think 2 (Beat Bop) and 4 (the jazzy one) were my favourites, though Electro UK will always have a special place in my heart

This probably sounds like a diversion in subject matter, but you must know I love a convoluted yarn, and I'd really like to mark the moment in December. So if anyone knows how I might get hold of Slick Rick for some dub-hop nun-rap, then let me know. Until then, here's a blurry memory from 1985ish

Teresa (real name Anjezë) took her name from the patron st of missionaries Thérèse of Lisieux, but found out another nun had bagged it so went with the western spelling from a school in Darjeeling. My great aunt was in the same convent as Teresa in India. She's mentioned in a letter sent to my nan

It wasn't until a decade after buying The Show that I discovered Rick hailed from Mitcham, not far from where I was born at St Teresa's in Wimbledon. The film is shot in the locale, and I was surprised to see a track called Mother Teresa on the LP, though they were named after different Teresas

He's also made this short film with idris Elba which accompanies it (i've not watched or listened in full yet btw) www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFmW...

Might have to do a kickstarter on it because there's no way in the foreseeable future i can afford to press it upfront myself. And I got a message yesterday to say someone else has bagged one of the tracks I'd cleared (which makes 2 now!)

Love that record. Tea Machine Dub would’ve been on Spiky Dread 2, but I was* too broke to press it, and JD Twitch comped it a few years later
