They were so good. Their whole discography is wonderful. I usually find myself listening to the first one most frequently because I like the more freeform psych rock songwriting and eruptions of noise. But the later albums are more focused and consistent.

I once heard someone describe music similarly—as sounding either leaky or solid. Leaky being looser, more improvised, more non-linear whereas solid would be the opposite.
maybe at root it’s all just Dionysian vs Apollonian.

I did! You could do it with SoundDiver. I did a lot with wave shapes made from piano samples on a record back in the day.
After SoundDiver was no longer supported, programming the XT was a lot less easy. 😔
