referencing this meme ofc. I really think it helps to have a "that don't impress me much" outlook when dealing with recsys and algorithms.
Yeah you're cool I know that, you make my job sooo much easier but that's where the appreciation ends.

3/ NSO Group emerges from the trial severely damaged.
The damages ($167,254,000 punitive, $440K+ compensatory) is big enough to make your eyes water.
The case is ALSO a blow to NSO's secrecy, with their business splashed all over a courtroom.
This will scare customers.
And investors.
Good.

one thing that pays over and over is being a regular to a handful of cafes, bistros and restaurants near you so that the owners/workers are always giving you the tea while preparing your order.
That's how you know about intricate tax thefts, beefs between local businesses etc

Troy hunt poster a video recently where he was teaching his 12 yr old daughter how to deal with phone scammers. basically repeat the question over & over, say I can't hear you properly or negate false claims with a simple "that's not true"

I don't exactly have what you're looking for but something close. First one is paper published by jay van bavel's lab. He does a lot of work around social & its impact on society and might be a good starting point. second one is a data viz from 2024

Oh also I dunno if you've watched industry but it has two seasons out yet where s2 >> s1 and I feel like if the producers end it here, it would be a great show

feel a little disoriented watching severance and TWL in parallel this yr. s2 of TWL was very well done and this season feels slow and played out. wonder if the show is to blame or bc it's up against severance s2. Not hating but TWL lately feels like a big dose of cynicism / first world problems

when I think of it, I can't name a single series that fits the criteria :( big fan of shows not dragging it out. the only ones that come to mind and were fast-paced were house of cards (s1-s5) + mr robot (s1-s4)

very exorcism-scientology-adjacent.
I'm gonna be sad when it's over. Some of the foreshadowing has me concerned
