Just like immigrants here have no control over the hiring & paying practices of large corporations!

...attention from the real problem: Wealthy people & companies, hoarding the housing, & governments who allow them to do it. šŸ––

Folks, wherever there is decay, blight, & oppression, I can guarantee, it's not b/c of the immigrants! It's not even the tourists! It's not THEIR fault that someone bought up all the homes & made them into short-term rentals. The rich are using their money & skill to redirect common people's...

...some kind of tax break, while voting for Trump, & sees no problem with letting this blight on our community just stay there. Meanwhile, the community is setting up a farmers market across the street. On PUBLIC land. We can't control who owns what, but we ARE trying to make something beautiful.

...these multi-family properties, & letting them decay? These are the same questions I'm asking as I walk 4 blocks to what USED to be my town square. All the shops are vacant. One has been for over 5 years. It's falling apart. However, it's not for sale! Whoever owns it is probably getting...

...to spend on country estates. Since I've been looking at multi-family properties in Ireland for several months, I can tell you w/ confidence: there's places sitting there, rotting, that could have been fixed up & sold ages ago. I gotta wonder: why blame the immigrants? Who is holding onto...

Irish immigration has skyrocketed in the last 20 years, partially due to large companies being recruited into the country. Irish homes skyrocketed in value, & there's almost no places to rent. There are PLENTY of houses for sale! You'd need to either know how to renovate them, or have millions...

...to help potential investors navigate the murky legal waters of buying the flat. And they blame the tourists? Folx, this is sketchy as hell. It sounds like another attempt to blame outsiders for government corruption. Also, the SAME tensions have been brewing in Ireland!

I'm guessing that, if they have no elevators, they also don't have any AC. šŸ™„ I wonder what the electric is like, or the fire safety plan. 😬 TONS of these properties are listed as having, "illegal tenants" or tenants that "don't hold a valid title to the property." The real estate agent offers...

Every apartment in those buildings is a MINIMUM of €55k, & need full renovations. And no elevators to get tools, supplies, furniture, or even *groceries* up 5+ floors? Does Spain need some autistic people to figure this out?

Holy shit. ā€œMarch 2021, Leonard Leo—the judicial kingmaker…sold a quiet Chicago company by the name of Tripp Lite for $1.65 billion. The buyer: Eaton Corporation, a global power infrastructure conglomerate that just happened to have a partnership with Peter Thiel’s Palantirā€¦ā€

Absolutely. We were always destined to be on the outside of their stupidity.

...around our living room. She laughed & giggled her head off. For a minute, we weren't dealing w/ crushing poverty, & the terror of having a baby that won't eat. We were just laughing & dancing.

When we bought this house, I knew that going from 3 bathrooms to 1 would be hard. But, my BFF had a family of 5 & had ONLY ever had a single bathroom. And even when my family stayed overnight w/ theirs, meaning ELEVEN PEOPLE, it was manageable. I just got spoiled is all.

At the root of it, GOP politics are predicated on victimhood and perceived opposition, so if you're able to tolerate just asking the FOX-brained folk curious and ever-deeper questions about why they think the dipshit stuff they do, you are more likely to spur genuine q's than you are by pushing back
