Palm Oil Continues to Plague Borneo’s Orangutans, Elephants, and Other Icons -- a powerful essay today on @therevelator.org therevelator.org/palm-oil-ora...

It's been clear for some time now the direction that Keir Starmer's government has been going in on immigration, despite some people denying it at the time. Here's what I wrote back in February www.adambienkov.co.uk/p/keir-starm...

Neither the Conservatives or Labour deliver what the people need: doctor appointments, operations, good schools, better roads, trains running on time etc. Instead we are getting immigrant bashing. That won’t solve any problems and it’s a failed strategy. You can’t beat Reform at their own game.

🚨🌱 The Chancellor is reviewing all public spending from scratch. Please join me in signing the @campaignforthearts.org petition to remind the UK Govt: the arts make our lives happier & our communities stronger. Now is the moment to invest in them. www.campaignforthearts.org/petitions/sp...

I often get asked, could incoming Govt's rewrite the regulations on SEZs/Freeports and avoid aggressive lawsuits from corporation set up in UK free zones? Here's my answer Thread

www.theguardian.com/politics/liv... Utter rubbish. He's running scared and resorting to performative politics, again. 🙄 More people will suffer thanks to his idiocy.

Govt is portraying the new #PlanningBill as 'win-win' for nature & people. This is false. Sec of State needs to amend this statement so as not to mislead MPs' votes. We will apply for judicial review if correction not forthcoming ⚖️ wildjustice.org.uk/general/wild...

80 years ago we beat fascism in Europe. "80 years later the far right in Europe is on the rise once again" In all the coverage of todays VE day commemorations on the BBC & Sky News you don't get any mention of this.

When we interviewed Julia King, she told us the UK was "woefully unprepared" for summer drought and winter flooding that would come with climate change. Two years on, it seems little has changed. podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/h...

Reports that Labour will demand a higher standard of English from migrants, comparable with A level standard and able to write about complex issues. I wonder if they think the 240,000 Brits in Dubai should learn Arabic and discuss complex issues with it?

The world turned upside down.

"I got it wrong and I condemn Israel" That's what Conservative MP Mark Pritchard said yesterday. He said he had supported Israel for decades, but that in light of the state’s actions in Palestine, he got it wrong. He's begging for lives to be saved.

Inadequate paternity pay results in mothers taking maternity leave becoming the 'default', reinforcing the gender pay gap. Increasing it not only tackles this, but also gives freedom of choice to families. If we're serious about closing the gender pay gap, we must reform paternity pay 👇

The republicans want big cuts to Medicaid to finance tax cuts for the rich. No!

Another day another protest. Today the target is @barclaysuk.bsky.social who are stubbornly addicted to investing in planet killing fossil fuels & are also complicit in the ongoing genocide. Various groups inside and out to give them a tough time. Huge focus on Palestine and investment in weapons.

When will we learn?

This is what worries me about the carbon bubble bursting - cleaning up all the uncapped wellls and other abandoned fossil fuel infrastructure will be mind-bogglingly expensive, and the fossil fuel companies need to be made to pay for it before they go bust

We must make the Labour Government more scared of losing votes to the Green Party than Reform. I spoke to @politicsjoe.bsky.social about my campaign to be the next leader: youtu.be/MVPT653gCV0?...

“What is the point of us creating this knowledge if the government is going to ignore it?” “I find it extraordinary just how much more powerful direct action can be in stimulating conversations, in stimulating change, compared to research.” —Dr. Charlie Gardner

Power of fossil fuel interests over mass media mean that journalists and editors are not able to make links for the readers even suggesting extreme weather is a product of climate change. How do they live with such inner conflict and cognitive dissonance? We need brave journalists to tell the truth

Now we see that voting for Reform is not just a protest but means an end of local services Nigel Farage wants to take a chainsaw to the health, housing and transport services we all rely on He also wants to end working from home, presumably because he doesn't want to work from Clacton

In a screeching u-turn, it emerges that Tony Blair does have a reverse gear after all Extraordinary error of political judgement for him to make his initial attack on net zero policies a week after Starmer’s clean energy speech & days before local elections

🚨SHOCKING: A UK government agency is trying to spray clouds with MORE pollutants to reflect sunlight back into space in an attempt to tackle climate change. 🤡 Instead of kicking the can down the road, maybe the government could just STOP new oil and gas and invest in renewables??

A Two-thirds decline in just the last four years, from a baseline that was already hugely down At this rate we will soon be living in an effectively insect-free country Does this government give a sh*t? I really don't think so www.theguardian.com/environment/...

1/12 Tony Blair Institute have released a report which is getting a lot of coverage in UK today It says the drive for net zero emissions is flawed and some media outlets have gone to town However it’s a bit odd By odd, I mean there’s a lot of bollocks in it and shouldn't be taken seriously 🧵🧵
