Some of us do have relevant expertise to the discussion, occasionally. It would be lame to treat social media like a one way street.

The most strident leftist or fascist can understand that compromise is necessary to further their goals within an existing political system. The most successful ones act on it. A willingness to work within a system is not a key differentiator along a left-right axis.

There is a lot of political thought that exists outside a left right divide. If ones over-arching political philosophy was in the primacy of Congressional power, and the subordination of the executive, that is not a centrist view, but it is an independent one.

Centrism to me seems inherently nihilistic triangulation. Weak. Contrarian, no affirmative theory or perspective on political economy, but defined by what you are not between options formulated by others who do have perspective.

No, that would be an “independent.” Centricism as a word only works in reference to two alternatives extremes.

I can’t imagine anyone disagrees with this statement.

I don’t think so if the response is “elections will always be close here”. That’s just not true.

Are people broadly defending not voting, or defending protesting despite the cries of “you’re just giving them what they want” from here and elsewhere?

One who is paid to think of such things might wonder why elections here are won on small margins of voters when one party is thematically fascist, and work backwards from there.

I remember when he was just talking shit about big law firms at above the law. He wasn’t particularly interesting in that role either.

Well, everyone knows Custer died at Little Bighorn. What this book presupposes is... maybe he didn't.

It has great news reporting. If you avoid the editorial section its fantastic, and doesn’t suffer from the NY Times brain dead house voice and headline writing malfeasance.

I think you should probably call it quits here and go back to the other place where the boost your metrics for paling around with nazi fucks.
That doesn’t really play to this crowd.

Also its not really most of our business if some rich guy wants to scramble his brains in the privacy of his own home until that guy wants to run the country. I guess if I was a Tesla shareholder I might care, but I’m not.

As if the entire republican party didn’t just change its entire ideology in the past decade and drag its base along.

It’s wishful thinking at best, and outright propaganda at worst.

Patrick Ruffini is a republican hack, though. Why would you publish this shit from him?

The worst part of this story is he killed someone in 2017, but then also raped someone in 1997. Seems like a bad person, tbh

I think there’s also some value in just doing the opposite of what the Dem leadership recommends on communications issues like this. They stink!
