I think a lot about what Carl Sagan said in one of his final interviews.

Wonderful display from the Bantams in front of a 23k crowd. A 4-1 demolition of Colchester United. Fabulous all round.

Our grandson is 7 next week. Last year he was given a cheap toy microscope as a present. He has continued to play with it but has asked for a "much much better one". Any recommendations for something suitable?

Spent today tidying up the greenhouse, once again a job I should have done in November. All tidy now. Tomorrow I will clean the glass and I will be ready for 2026 sees sowing. Lots of bumble bees about I am pleased to say.

New polytunnel cover ordered. Last one shredded in storm just before Christmas. Can't complain, we've had it 10 years and it was third hand. Some prep work first, then we just need a warm sunny day to fit it. Wonder when that might occur?

A great 3-0 Bradford City win v Walsall. Best match I've seen for a while. Brilliant goals from Sarcevic and Pattison. Superb performances all round. Large group of Norwegian City supporters behind us. They were great fun. I told them they could visit again!

This is a wonderful piece. Loved it.

Another year, another carrot cake for our son Joe's birthday. Nigel Slater's recipe minus the walnuts. Joe's favourite cake.

@karenlowthian.bsky.social great little read as accompaniment to the TV series

Thanks to Storm Bert no football today. Might be a blessing as half the City squad is injured. Going to do menu planning for "Not New Year's Eve" instead. Always had friends for NYE dinner but now we all have grandchildren we are child sitting or hosting family. So now NYE has moved to mid January.

Hello everyone. I am now on this platform for social media. Do please repost this message so that more people can find me!

An excellent episode of The Archers if I may say so.

A birthday carrot cake for our son. Your recipe @nigelslater.bsky.social minus the walnuts. He doesn't like walnuts but it is his favourite cake. He always asks for it.

Great excitement for a seedaholic like me.Today is the day the annual Heritage Seed Library catalogue is released. This year i have chosen Altringham carrot; Jackson Grey Back pea; Box climbing French bean; George Richardson lettuce; Zapallito de Tronco squash; and Market King tomato.

Winter veg. It was a tad frosty at the allotment this afternoon. Leeks, Savoy cabbage, red cabbage, sprouts and leaf beet.

A warm pumpkin scone for a cold day in Yorkshire. In this case a squash scone made with home grown Sucrette squash. Not as neat as in @nigelslater.bsky.social recipebook, but very tasty.

Visited the Pitti Palace and the Boboli Gardens in Florence on "free Sunday". Not too crowded this morning and warm and sunny too.
