I don't doubt your experience, but am unable to find any articles describing it being a requirement and everything I do see describes it as optional and run by the TSA. This leads me to believe that someone incorrectly informed you when you got yours done, likely out of their own ignorance

so is a handgun license, which might be easier to get than the id
comment in response to

I'm not aware of any state requiring a facial scan to get real id, also no passport requires it which is also a real id compliant document.
are you confusing real id with TSA precheck

I agree that requiring IDs for voting is a voter suppression tactic and a poll tax, however Real ID was not created for voting it was created in 2005 after 9/11 for boarding planes

This is useful because of how often that message, unfortunately, falls on deaf ears.

question though, what percentage of that half do you think would have previously been the student that wouldn't have done them at all, paid someone else to do it, copied off someone else's work, or even just used the paid homework websites that were a thing when I was at Uni 10 years ago

yeah, foreign demand will probably dip but the US is half of their global truck sales and now the US consumer is held captive by tariffs and they have the domestic inventory to sell
comment in response to
post
but more directly to the article I would be surprised if they didn't just replace the cited shipment with a shipment of finished trucks that were in Mexico or Canada that wouldn't be affected by the 125% retaliatory tariff from china
comment in response to
post
and even if they were to retool factories to make the whole truck in the US the added manufacturing cost hike would be a difficult pill for consumers.

my conjecture is that in the short term they would prioritize maintaining inventory that is already in the US, there will absolutely be a domestic parts crunch as many components hop the Detroit-Windsor border repeatedly in a manner that is not feasible with tariffs;
comment in response to
post
the production crunch will be on vehicles for the US market, because any vehicles produced under the tariffs will be massively unprofitable, and foreign brands won't be importing their vehicles either
supply of new vehicles in the US will effectively stagnate
comment in response to
post
Having extra inventory going into a production crunch isn't the worst thing, also why they're stopping the export of vehicles that are already in the country. If they were worried about having too much inventory they wouldn't be doing that

I get the sentiment, but I don't understand why this article sounds like a loss for Ford, who has also been doing an Everyone Gets Employee Pricing sales event since it started. Ford finds themselves best situated to turn this opportunity into them being the last remaining of the big 3

Luck is a philosophy or outlook on life more than anything else. If you look for examples for why you are lucky you will find them, if you look for why you're unlucky you will also find that. It's what you focus on that determines how you write the narrative of your life.
comment in response to

We would need to manufacture and build new greenhouses and all associated equipment. the manufacturing supply chain for which does not exist domestically, nobody is going to take on those capital costs at a scale sufficient to feed our population
