The black MAGA hat at this wedding? Weirdly funereal vibe.

A very scary bill just passed in Ohio for transgender folks. No one but local LGBTQ+ orgs are talking about it. First, Ohio is only recognizing sex assigned at birth, male or female. You can get in trouble for stating otherwise on documents, I imagine. I may need to change my state ID back. 1/5

I was adopted via closed adoption, born in North Carolina. It was closed so I have no knowledge of or access to my biological mother’s details. It also means my biological mother isn’t on my birth certificate. So if birthright citizenship becomes a patchwork right, what’s someone like me to do?

Oh what fresh fuck is this now?

A good friend of mine is teaching an online class that's open to the public on African American history! 8-9 PM on Thursdays, wide range of topics. It'll be great, she's an amazing teacher and this is a great way to immerse yourself in the history.

As others have said, what is important to understand is that those of us educated in the order of the 20th century have got to let those assumptions go. It’s time for people to lean into the chaos that these rulings/regime create and use them to advantage. A politics of Tricksterism is called for.

"His blind spot is that he doesn’t really connect particularly well with, just, people." It's a hilarious admission because connecting with people is a cornerstone of good politicking? But also, this explains a lot of the party's performance in defending the republic.

Today's hot take is that sometimes it doesn't matter that you have food at home. Pleasure IS a fundamental human need, and if you find yourself craving a specific food, there's no harm in occasionally indulging.

I need to get friends who own a boat My friends are too poor, useless academics

Boy, I bet Mahmood Mamdani has some *feelings* and *thoughts* about this one.

I think this season is better?

I was going to a Halloween showing of Rocky Horror in 2011 with a couple of friends and we threw makeup on me at the last second. Hadn't seen this picture in years.

Driving home a very specific route solely so I can see somebody’s DeLorean

Mahmood Mamdani was already one of the most interesting scholars of the Third World and now his son is very likely to become mayor of perhaps the most culturally diverse city in the world

The uncomfortable thing that nobody wants to admit is that with any degree, you might need to do a career switch! It happens in lots of careers, including with people who code! I don’t think we’d have this level of handwringing about majors except that the cost of education is so high.

"Learn to code" was always bad advice, unless you actually like to code. College students have the best chance of professional success if they major in topics that interest them. Today in @startribune.com. Please tell high school students and parents. www.startribune.com/what-should-...

It’s hilarious that all of these politicos and civil society orgs showed their ass over Cuomo and then he lost anyway.

Has anybody done a welfare check on James Carville this morning?

I worked in a secure group home in 2011: it was supposed to be me, the manager and the social worker. For a few days, they stopped showing up. Then he came back at day three and told me that the two of them had a long-running affair, he left his wife and kid for her, and now they were splitting up.
