I check back like every month to see if I can buy a physical copy yet, haha.
If you haven't seen @beefstrong.bsky.social 's book UMBRA, it is veeery cool.

That's great, ypu can do it! I think libraries really appreciate when people in the community want to use their space and plan events!!
I've seen a few zine/comics fests start small. As they grow a little every year, the organizers (my friends) figure out how to make everything smoother!

These are looking awesome!! I'm always trying to make myself use more spotted black, and Mignola is absolutely so good to look at. It's hard though, I don't naturally think that way :\.

But I'll get back to pestering you RPG designers, collaborators and publishers soon!
Not to mention my own RPG zine projects, which are chugging along in the background.

2. Designing an abstract cover for a political science book.
3. Ink/watercolor spot illustrations for an article in an alumni magazine (a wonderful repeat client that I work with every now and then).
4. Teaching my Fantastic Cartography class at a local art school.

1. Re-creating/customizing a vintage world map covered in more than 40 little illustrations for a baby's room. Working from a phone photo taken in a shop in Paris. I'll get it printed at 65x40", hand-watercolor the illustrations, and mail it to the clients.

Scans of the final inks for the spot illustrations. I re-did a couple of them because I was satisfied with the first attempt.
Thanks for looking! Hire me to help with your project, I want to do more work like this.

Some thumbnail sketches/ideas for the interior spot illustrations, based on the games six factions! Here you can see my favorite sketches, along with the development of the Bandits and Slimes.

Final(ish) sketch, and ink/watercolors. I often use ink, graphite and water color to make textures which I can and layer with photoshop. I love mixing traditional and digital media, collaging stuff together.

I'm itching to try the game, either solo or with some friends, but I've been so busy this week 😵💫.
Rough sketches!
My normal illustration process:
1. Communicating with client
2. Brainstorming
3. Thumbnails
4. Rough sketches
5. Final sketches
6. Final illustration!

I'm not sure if there will be a final game for other people to play, or if it's just me figuring out how to play a game by myself 🤷♂️. Either way is cool, I think!

For oracles and spark tables, I've been using Solo Dark, Knave 2e and this cool new thing WORLDWIZARD.
I also made my own 52 card spark tables for room generation, but you need a lot of sparks for this kinda thing.
Cool! Hopefully I'll make more headway and have more to share soon.

Beneath the Dungeon Floor! by @hodagrpg.bsky.social is awesome! I loved the writing of the beginning, especially the town/home base, something I'm trying to incorporate into my game.
I had some trouble understanding how to play this--might require more understanding of OD&D (I'm working on it!).

Some games inspiring me:
DELVE by @annablackwell.bsky.social . Coolest suite of solo games I've tried. SO much to track though, this game asks a lot of the player! It almost feels more like you're playing a strategy game.
DARK FORT is cool, sleek and impressive, but I'm not sure it's actually fun.

Generating the dungeon and also running the game at the same time is a lot, so I think game rules need to be super simple. I want to pass the time drawing and thinking, not JUST rolling dice/consulting tables.

For tracking resources, I've been designing a pocket mod character booklet, very inspired by @n8hps.bsky.social 's NOSR zine, Sledgehammer and others. I use a paperclip or bookmark tab to track things like torches or days.
So far the rules are basically Cairn, but...

I'm trying to make a game composed of these verbs:
-Draw
-Imagine
-Log (take brief notes)
-Track resources(only a few)
-Choose Risk/Reward
-Be surprised by randomness
I don't want to make/play a solo game based on scenes or writing prompts, which many seem to rely on.
