Too much polite chuckling and not enough "Shut up asshole."

I don’t think separating into the liberal/leftist camps is going to accomplish anything

tl;dr I think OP was just expecting a different type of protest than they attended and was caught off-guard, and had an issue with how sometimes single-day protests exist more for clout and morale than direct action. I honestly don’t think it’s any deeper than that.

Those protests are usually more spontaneous and met with more police resistance, so the protocols OP was talking about are necessary. For single-day events? You (usually) don’t need those kind of protective measures.

I think the type of protests that OP was expecting was the other kind- sustained, multi-day efforts like Occupy or Black Lives Matter, or even the anti-ICE protests in LA that started earlier this week.

It looks to me like Trump dictated it to someone, at least partially. (Apparently he does that sometimes) Some of his voice is definitely in there

Maybe a toggle switch somewhere so you can see both newest and most popular replies as needed?

Even if that metric is right, in what world are that many people expected to get home before “curfew” (aka police brutality hours)

Be sure to add your name to the #RecallBass petition. They have 165k of the 330k signature needed to recall her. recallbassnow.com

I phone banked for you. I did it when you were running for Congress too. It's time to go. The city is 1B in the red because you gave the cops a raise and settled an insane amount of brutality lawsuits and now they're out here beating up your constituents with our tax money. Gtfo of my town.

Mayor Bass, can you answer your constituents as to why DTLA metro stations were closed, preventing those who wanted to leave the protest from departing?
comment in response to post
You really expected *30,000 people* to get home before curfew???¿????????????
comment in response to post
It’s both

Just to add more context They shut down several train stations in DTLA and didn’t provide any info. People had a hard time getting out. There wasn’t a single cop I saw along the march route. A protestor got knocked into by a car she was trying to stop from entering the protest street.
