That’s smart! I do something similar with blender for the hard surface stuff and then zbrush for more sculpty bits/booleaning (I don’t know why but I’ve never had an uncomplicated Boolean operation work out for me in blender)

Hell yeah! It’s the natural progression! Getting into CAD is smart, I work primarily in blender and zbrush so I kinda have to do workarounds to get the size of things accurate and end up guess-and-checking a lot of it still. But also, I HATED fusion haha

I also finished bodyshopping my bestie’s pauldron for him and she’s looking smoooooooooooooth in her gloss black primer. Can’t even tell where there were big ol nasty layer shifts anymore.

Plus so many models get stolen and uncredited from the original artists and resold or included in some content farm’s stl packs, and I see people defending that theft/lack of credit CONSTANTLY. Bugs the hell out of me.

This was on an Elegoo Neptune 4 max and it was a bit of a struggle even still since the bottom part warped and the little swoops of the fleur de lis at the top almost completely failed and had to be hand-sculpted back in. FDM can’t escape the need for tinkering haha

Probably needs another 8-10 hours of wet sanding, priming, and painting/gilding/enamel coloring from here til it’s done.
Also I have to sculpt, mold, and cast the gem at the center but I’m gonna do that at the same time as I do all the gems for the matching sword.

Not to mention I’m a goober who actually makes all my 3d models so THAT is a whole thing. But tbh that feels like the “easy” part now that I’m comfy with blender and zbrush. At least that part doesn’t make my little rat hands cramp up from hours of sanding lol

3D printers fast track a lot of things, but if you’re not just cranking out reticulating dragon tchatchkis and trying to make something that could be at home on a film set or something, it takes sooo much work in post processing that thing

I’m surviving! I’d be better if I hadn’t gotten laid off/if I’d found a new job, but I’ll figure it out.
The shield is part of a sword and shield combo from final fantasy 14! I still have to finish bodyshopping, painting, and resin casting the gems, but it’s getting there!

ITS FINE, I can manually sculpt it back in with UV clay because I have gotten decent at fixing my mistakes, it’s just so funny that I was staring at this thing for so long that I missed something that major until this late in the process.
