What's important to remember is that it was *WORSE* before the ACA (Obamacare). Disqualifying people due to "pre-existing conditions" when your health insurance is tied to your job (thus forcing people to stay in jobs so they didn't have to switch insurance) was the NORM.

If your company is the gatekeeper to care, being actually more powerful than the doctors who treat the patients at times, then it is a bad look to pretend that you do so to guard against unsafe or unnecessary care. It is better to be honest brokers, and admit you are gatekeepers to care for profit.
