I might take a short ride in a self driving car in a city at very low speeds just for the novelty, but trusting one at highway speeds strikes me as suicidally stupid. Trusting one built by Elon Musk, a sociopath high on his own bullshit, is just insane.

The way to deal with all these systems is just to make the automaker responsible for any crashes with it enabled (or switched off within previous 10 seconds) unless they can prove otherwise. I still remember the Volvo press incident. Manufacturers are often delusional about their automated systems.

In the UK, the Automated Vehicles Act 2024 makes it a specific criminal offence to market a vehicle as self-driving when it is not. Every country should enact similar legislation.
