It's looking like Stearns thinks this roster is good enough up till the trade deadline. Think we'll probably see a trade for an SP at the deadline, unless the Padres come down on the return for Cease or King.

The Mets bullpen remains reliant on guys who *might* be good. I wouldn’t mind adding someone like David Robertson or Kenley Jansen…several veterans still unsigned.

They have Diaz, Minter, Nuñez, Stanek, Butto, and Garrett that they feel are reliable. After that they have like 9 different guys who will be trying out that pen and they’re going hope 2 of those 9 work out.

Garrett and Stanek fluctuated from very good to pretty bad at various times last year, and Nuñez’s sample size was small, he’s still unproven. Extra fortification wouldn’t hurt.

There will be stretches where Stanek isn’t good. Garrett’s peripherals are just way too good to ignore though and I share their confidence in him. I also really trust Stearns to manage this as the season goes along. That bullpen was awful at the start of last year and he transformed it on the fly.

We’ll see what happens. Nothing in baseball is harder to predict than how good a reliever will be from one year to the next.

I'm still waiting for Bryce Montes de Oca to be healthy. The kid has a live arm and could be fantastic in the bullpen. Hope this is finally his year. He's not been on most people's radar, but remember the name.

I don’t think he’s ever transitioned from a thrower to a pitcher. First time I saw him I knew he was a major injury waiting to happen, his delivery is so violent. If he’s healthy and can throw strikes (big problem), great, but not holding my breath.

He's been rehabbing from Tommy John surgery. With the Stearns pitching lab, maybe he can make that transition. If he does, I think he could be fun to watch.

Senga getting back at the end of '24 lets our ace start fresh in '25. Manaea & Peterson make a quality 2&3. Try Clay Holmes as a starter. Megill looked good in the playoffs. Let's see what our not-so-secret weapon Jeremy Heffner can do with Montas, Canning, Blackburn. And keep looking.

I think that the group of players signed is the group from which the active and 40-man rosters will be developed. I know many want Iglesias but with Acuna, Mauricio, Baty, Madrigal & Young all fighting for what might be one or two spots, I don't see that happening.

The starting lineup seems to be set for now with the only hole in the lineup being Siri in the 9 hole! He will, however, play a spectacular CF & win games with his glove. IMO, we should pull off a trade for a frontline starter NOW as we have the capital to do so.
