Forgot to say, Priory is in the care of English Heritage and there is no admission fee; but parking costs £4 by contactless card on the exit barrier. xx

Thank you! It has a lovely setting on the river, doesn’t it? I’ve been reading about its history and I rather like the idea that monks from the parent monastery at Durham Cathedral used to be sent to Finchale on holiday! 😀

Thank you for sharing the link. It makes one appreciate the building more, to know something about it. I bought a guidebook from the shop when I was last there, but it doesn’t go into an enormous amount of detail. Have you been to Lindisfarne? It’s lovely too. xx
