Would it be absolutely crazy to have a drag and drop portfolio page? So you could customize which images are next to which ones on your home page? This was something I always wished I could do on IG. New images would still show up in regular feeds, but could be arranged on your board.
If you can let us control cropping to a better degree than Instagram, you’d get a lot of migration! It need not be limitless but a bigger range would be golden.
Example, as it appears you already have an advantage if able to keep this kind of ratio as appears here.
On left, posted just now on bsky vs on my studio acct on instagram. I have never become too attached to IG even though I have had another acct under this handle for many years. Limitations.
They and FB are compressing files too much, but preserving in sponsored content/ads. Your color and pixel count appear better. I get that data storage is an issue but maybe in-app print purchases with a print partner could offset. 🧐
If you upload a few photos in one post, IG will not preserve the ratio, thereby cropping parts and ruining composition - and it will even be different than if posted one at a time as single photos. Ironically, FB does better with this but you can crosspost to FB from IG but not the other way around!
Those looking to use an android version on this while waiting for the Flashes developer working hard on it, check out @pinksky.app in the meantime. It needs work but it's something for us android users!
That's one of the reasons I don't use Instagram, no option to disable personalised recommendations or customise them, or to set it so it only shows content from people I'm following. But it looks like Flashes has that option just like Bluesky so I will use it once it officially launches.
Could you please tell me how I can get this? I've been searching all over. I have the testflight app on my phone but it is just a 'redeem' button showing...
Yay. I remember being excited to test G+ long ago and then it was immediately apparent to me that it was just built on an email backbone, like pushing out to a subscriber list, but with nice preview in the UX. “Circles” lol
Android will come when he can afford to pay an Android dev. Apple has its own programming language, and rewriting everything to work on Android while also keeping up with updates for his three iOS apps is too much for one person.
Awesome! Thank you for replying, I’m super excited. We really appreciate you and all involved with providing us an awesome new place already to connect 🙏🏼🙌🏼♥️
Beta tester here... I'm trying to separate this from my BlueSky feed. I like having two different experiences instead of a blended one. Is that something you encourage?
With the feature above you can select which photos from Bluesky you want to present in Flashes (pictures will have to remain on Bluesky though).
If you post the pictures with Flashes you will be able to filter them out in Bluesky by muting the tag "flashes-app-ln3348nvl89"

Maybe a toggle for videos or photos only too?
Cuz I would totally have notifications ON for this app
