Check the FAQ in my profile. It's in there already. If bills need to be paid I'd rather have an optional low cost subscription model for some extra features than ads.
User data mining doesn't make sense since all data on Bluesky is already public and Flashes doesn't collect any data.

Thank you. Ads are what turn the internet trash. Ads should have never been a thing, and I’m glad that a lot of new platforms does not have ads. I would stop using Bluesky or Flashes if ads started to appear. Subscription model, I think is the way to go for a more healthy and independent platform.

Absolutely key. Not much value for advertisers if they get it free elsewhere. Subs will come from value-add features, “exclusive access”, and I suspect if a *user* can customise and monetize *their* content. Also, from an investment perspective, number and rate of subs is a critical metric. 1/2

I also suspect advertisers will use free-form ads to get direct feedback on messaging. They have free access to public data, so they basically get to ride the platform for free, with more opportunity to be seen as growing a grassroots following of “genuine” content rather than enforced placement.

I wish it were an alternative to Instagram but it’s really just a re-skin of Bluesky. There’s no extra functionality at all beyond regular Bluesky, just another way of viewing it. No stories, no filters, no groups. Disappointing really.
