Capitalism seeks to ELIMINATE the skilled artisan, who profits only and directly from their own labor. It's an inefficiency and prohibitive to the concentration of capital. If you're out there selling the products of your own work directly to consumers, you are not a capitalist.

Similarly, consuming goods and services produced via capitalism does not make you a capitalist any more than eating food grown via feudalism makes you one of the nobility. All economic systems require people who are not the direct beneficiaries of those systems to participate in them.

Which is why boycotts are effective. If the people who are not the direct beneficiaries of the system MINIMIZE their participation in it, that also minimizes the benefits to those direct beneficiaries. But you generally don't have the ability to opt out entirely. That doesn't make you a capitalist.

i always tell people that commerce is trade, and trade is a fundamental human behavior that knits us all together. trade is beautiful bc not one of us can be truly self-sufficient.

capitalism is the wielding of hoarded money to create more hoarded money.
