I bought a bootleg DVD set of a then mostly lost 60s anime dub and the dude who made the DVDs slapped his watermark over every episode.

For ages I've thought about using the original Japanese footage to make cleaner versions, especially now that the dude selling em is seemingly out of business

it takes like 5 seconds of active thought to realize not only are you putting your watermark over work that isn't yours but you're actively harming the archival process by gatekeeping the actual source footage of what you found, providing only a lesser version with your stinky logo encrusted into it
