Bears fan here and the 49ers were everything we wished we were. That '85 team was a wild ride, but no excuse, they should have won more. Egos, distractions, and injuries doomed them. Walsh, Montana, Rice, Craig, etc. were phenomenal. Saw them dismantle the Bears live in the NFC Title game in '88.

Good point. The scoreboard doesn’t always tell the real story about domination. When you look at stats like first downs, time of possession, QB hurries, sacks and turnovers…those tell you the degree of domination. The Eagles clobbered the Chiefs in each of those categories and then some.

The 1989 49ers are still the greatest team in NFL history, in my opinion. Finished 14-2, with those two losses by a combined five points (also the only two times they were held under 20 points all season). Number 1 offense, number 3 defense, then outscored their opponents 126-26 in the playoffs.
