Which changes to immigration policy that Trump is now instituting should Dems support, and which should they oppose?

And no one seems to bring up the basic concept of pent-up demand for entry. Remember 2016-20, when a certain person's policies slowed immigrant inflows? THEN what happened? COVID!. Typical inflows were curtailed but those people still wanted to come. And once Trump/COVID risk was gone, they came.

Votes were not there for comprehensive immigration reform. SO, you have to get media coverage for prosecutions of traffickers, Mexican cooperation for cartel raids & asylum claims at the border. Pitch Central American aid as going after cartels. Maybe try a guest worker bill.

This sounds counter intuitive but people should be protesting in front of farms demanding that ICE raid those farms. And at same time helping the migrants to leave. It will collapse some farms and certainly raise prices/inflation. Trump's support will crater

Take the dairy farmer in Iowa. He went on TV and said 50% of his workers are undocumented. If they left his business would collapse in a matter of days. He voted for trump. Doesn't think trump will hurt his farm. Start with him. Demand ICE raid his dairy farm. He voted for that.

Immigration policy is a vest web of complications which needs sorting - funneling migrants and immigrants to where support is available and work is needed and bolstering international well-being to stem the flow. Broad blocking and delaying work permission and imprisonment are foolish fear tactics.
