Sure, every state political party has their own problems. But New York is making their problems into everyone's business. We lost the House because of them in 2022, and now we're at risk of losing a whole lot more.

Sometimes, the corrosion is just so bad. It's better just to cut out the damaged sections and start from scratch. This usually requires setting up temporary supports that may become permanent.
Sometimes, you can re-use some of the existing steel.

As a NYS resident, you're not wrong at all. If they'd put half the energy into trying to win elections across the state as they do propping up the same old feckless and milquetoast candidates, they might actually accomplish something. But they seem uninterested in that.

NYer here. People see "New York" & think it's a deep blue state. But away from NYC & some upstate cities it's depressingly conservative. The NYC burbs & Staten Island too. So I think the idea to preserve statewide power is the dreaded "meet in the middle". Hochul & Schumer, et al reflect this IMHO.
