Dealing with my first bout of nausea since the day of the surgery. Really hope this passes soon.

Also my belly has had a slight orange color since the day of the surgery? Not around the incisions mind you, just...in the middle of my abdoment. It isn't warm or painful, it's just....kinda orange?

It's possible! I actually don't know too much about what they used on me. It doesn't look like jaundice at least, and my body has been digesting food (just a little slowly), so I *think* I'm okay? I hope so at least.

I'm dyslexic enough that I didn't even notice the typo lol. I know when I had surgery, I had a yellowish/orangeish color around the area that stubbornly wouldn't wash off. It took a while before it finally faded.

I’ve also had recent surgery and can confirm disinfectant or lidocaine scrub is orange. Since you obviously can’t scrub the area well it does kinda linger until showering without pain becomes viable.

Usually surgery prep is done with betadine, which will definitely leave you orange.

Imagine what this would look like on your skin, and you'll get a pretty good idea lol.

Echoing what @dijonketchup.bsky.social said, it could be the disinfectant. They tend to paint the area pretty broadly. Could also be new and interesting colors of bruising, because that DEFINITELY happens.

Like others are saying, it’s likely the disinfectant. I remember my tummy be tinted orange from disinfectant when I had my appendix removed, so I’d say 9 out of 10 odds at worst that’s what that is.

Oh yeah that stuff is annoying! It rubs off a bit but won’t wash off easily, so what I ended up doing was only using black & red t-shirts until I was able to rub my skin. There was also a pattern of weird orange stripes down my sides, probably where it ran down on the bed while I was knocked out. 🍊

Fell asleep for a good while and let my painkillers wear off. Now my main problem incision is painful and agitated.

Just had some toast with peanut butter and jelly, took my Norco instead of tylenol so I can keep sleeping overnight without pain hopefully. Really hope the incision stops stinging.

I feel achey upon waking up. My incisions still pull and sting. I'm coming into my 5th full day home since surgery and I can't really tell what healing pace I'm on atm. I'm still sleepy too. 😴

In theory I should be leaving the inflammatory stage of healing soon for the proliferative phase.

For folks unfamiliar with what the proliferative phase is, it's basically where the wound starts to actually close up. Once the wounds are closed, the remodelling phase starts where (in layman's terms) the scarring happens and my skin returns to as close to normal as it can more or less.
