Servos are in 🙌

Next up is cable management. Not sure how to tackle that yet as hot glue doesn’t stick to this plastic well.

Don’t want to permanently attach the wires in case anything breaks 🤔

Plaast or even polymorph is a polymer plastic with remarkable properties that can be used for model making great. The plastic is already soft and easily deformable at 60 ° C.

I‘m using a hot air gun to melt it in a glas bowl. I sand the mask a little on the place were I want to use it.

You can drill a pair of small 1mm holes where you want your wires routed. You can then use small fishing line or cotton thread to attatch the wires to the base as well as bundle them neatly together for superb wire routing satisfaction. Then cover things with some inner removable padding.

This has the advantage of being easily taken apart or probed for easier trouble shooting should the need arise. You may also want to consider using Ebike Connectors since they are small, Durable and water proof. :3

Oooo smart! I ended up printing some lil tiny holders that I could glue down. But not glue the wires 😃. So much work to organise all the wires 😵‍💫

Yeah for sure!!! But i will admit there is some serious satisfaction when you do your wire managment and routing and its all nice n tight and just * chef kiss* even if it isnt something that someone will ever see. You will know. And that alone is worth while.

This technique is known as cable/wire lacing. It was very popular to do this in musical organs, tube computers,Telephone/lan Busses, aircraft and marine wiring, and is still used today in networking and in industrial electrical/power/data infrastructures. Now days many people use clips and zipties.

Actually, this is a really solid build. For the fans, I've found negative pressure setup, or more fans forcing air out of the head than fans forcing air in, works better. Otherwise, hot air will just recirculate inside the head like a high pressure dome in the atmosphere.

That's definitely a good approach. If the fans are too loud, try Noctua's PC fans. My next build will explore those PC-grade air blowers commonly used for GPU cooling. They move a lot more air than standard fans and the motors are less likely to catch fur fibers and get tangled up.

They do have the 5V version. My fursuit heads all have those 5V 40mm fans. Just make sure you see the 5V in the description. Noctua makes some of the quietest yet powerful fans. They are an industry standard for ultra quiet PC cooling hardware.
