Compensating for fossil fuel CO2 previously locked into the lithosphere cannot be compensated by ephemeral forestry in the biosphere. Additional arguments in Kate Dooley paper https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2590332222003232 & even this is premised on much higher 50%≤ 1.5°C carbon budget than is now available.

The UK has negative nature because it uses land overseas for cattle. The UK needs to first use less land than it has, if it wanted to rewild re NbS CDR. If the UK doesn't reduce meat & milk first, it outsources land use to old-growth regions & makes everything worse.
