Feel like ever since WWE moved to Netflix, the whole focus has been to show people how much more popular they are than AEW by showing all the celebrities in the crowd while the focus on wrestling diminishes each week. AEW caters to fans who only care about the wrestling, and that's what I love.

WWE is very much stories and characters first, while AEWs first focus is on the quality of the in ring matches they provide.

I agree. I came back to wrestling during the pandemic tried NWA, tried WWE, tried AEW and that is the one that stuck. Tony's booking is the kind I enjoy. This is the most I have enjoyed wrestling ever and I go back to the 80s WWF, Monday Night Wars and Attitude Era.

My thoughts are that WWE will always be big money mainstream. AEW is a pro wrestling focused alternative. Almost by definition, if they are as big as the top guy, they aren't the alternative. In order to be even nearly as big, they would need to compromise the entire purpose of their existence.

I wish the states were not so capitalistic that "competition" couldn't reach across like the companies in Japan. NJPW, NOAH, AJPW, and DDT have put on super shows together, and done cross promotion. Yes, to all of this! I always liken it A24 vs. Disney. Yes, they both produce films, but one specializes in prestige, artsy films and the other cares about large IP that they can turn into toys & lunchboxes. There's room for both, but they have vastly different objectives.
