I need urbanists & pop historians to understand that there are white Boomers and Gen-Xers, middle class and otherwise, walking amongst us today, who were raised in the city, not the suburbs. We went to integrated public schools with kids of all colors. We exist. We are not mythical beings.

Grew up in Toronto, raised in an apartment block, went to schools full of non-white kids that I had to to walk/bike to, started taking transit by myself at age 10, loved everything about my youth, wouldn't change a thing.
Plenty of folks took Ferris Bueller to heart & realized how cool cities are.
