I read an article in the last year that said bees (I believe all types) did much better when they had Helianthus (sunflower genus) plants available. It helped their immunity to pathogens, so maybe at least help with the gut biome issue here?

I have a lot of bumblebees here, but they do start later than the honeybees, who come out very early in spring. Also, bumbles really love purple flowers (lavender as example), the mint family such as catmint and oregano, and the tall cosmos (orange). Love watching them!

I have about a dozen purple and pink lavender in my yard plus oregano and mint. Twist my arm, and I'll add cosmos. Save the bees and have a beautiful garden. Wish I could do more.

Sounds like you are doing well! Do watch out for things that look like really big dust bunnies around leaves or brush. Those could be bumblebee nests! We accidentally found one and moved it before we realized what it was. Not at all what I pictured as a bee nest!

It's wonderful to see so many want to help bees!🐝 My top recommendations include using native, pollinator-safe flowering plants (including trees and shrubs) whenever possible. Bees need to eat!
