A2 Regular communication either in person or online, it’s the behaviour of line manager in academia and supervisors at doctoral level that need to be kinder and open to students and staff. #LTHEChat
A2 Models for providing feedback in medical or health professions education such as ALOBA (Silverman) can be useful (as long as they maintain the dialogic perspective!)
A2 community of inquiry perhaps? As dialogue and interaction are a core part of it. Also I like the Buddhist framing of interconnectedness, how we constantly create each other through our interactions and therefore dialogue #LTHEchat
Oh that is beautiful! I also like to make space for contingency & serendipity - obviously a useless academic: I can't make a 5-year research plan - I like to be open to what emerges! #LTHEchat
Ones self as a social construct. "Other people talk about me, therefore I am." But what if they stop? I come to #LTHEchat for light relief not existential angst.
A2 #LTHEchat correspondence tuition is built on dialogue - although even with emails and forums, that can feel closer to postal chase than a supportive conversation!
A2 I don't have examples, it's just the approach we use to support staff applying for ethics to do #SoTL "Don't explain your philosophy, embody it," as Epictetus probably said. #LTHEChat
A2 #lthechat not a theory, just a technique, I use 'chain of whys' or '5 whys' questions with #AberPGCTHE. Listen actively not mechanically, check for understanding etc. Sometimes ask 'What other factors might be causing this?' Their understanding of the underlying problem can shift dramatically.
