I love the people who are like "Don't be mad at Americans, just be mad at the government they elected through representative democracy". Nope, don't work like that. If you aren't out in the streets protesting, why should we believe you?

I have some sympathy for Americans who don’t feel like they can do that (for any number of reasons). I have no sympathy for those who come seeking a pat on the head for having voted for a candidate who wasn’t a fascist, though.
I didn't see an uproar of 'not all Russians' over the past 11 years while antiwar Russians scrambled to get out of Russia. 'NFKRZ (channel name) Roman (actual name)' pointed out the hypocrisy of that. Which is even more messed up since they do not have a representative democracy.
No one should feel bad for us. This is legitimate power given legally and is being used illegally, just like it was told would happen if the dude was elected again. I hate what the government is doing but I hate my neighbors more.
I hope you are an American and that the neighbors you hate are Americans ... Americans need to clean up their own house first before bothering anyone else.
Thank you! Getting tired of the post claiming this isn't who they are or that the majority of Americans don't support this. Sorry, but the majority of them either voted for this or didn't care enough about the damage he'd cause to get off their asses & vote to stop it.
If you support Trump and Musk, fuck off. If you voted for Trump and haven't realized you got fooled, fuck off. If you voted for Trump, realize you got fooled but haven't been vocal about your error, fuck off. If you still think there were Nazis in Ukraine, fuck off
Lots of Americans are still in the denial phase about what is happening and don't want to come to terms with the fact that their reputation is kaput and it will never fully recover no matter what they do post-Trump.
So many Americans are on social media whining and moaning about the Trump/MAGA regime.
And they leave it at that.
They say things like "I heard there was a protest in Bedford" or "there was a townhall" somewhere.
All the while, nearly every one of them just sits there, doing nothing concrete.
We have a very oppressive government. And the world's 3ed best funded military acting as a domestic army, the "police." We can not talk openly. And the people doing anything concrete. Are either smart enough not to talk about it on SM, or they are in jail or dead.
The Democratic Party is dominated by extremely nice tax attorneys who are exactly what you'd want in a comfortable 70+ seat majority — affable, willing to negotiate, and deeply knowledgeable. In a situation where they're powerless except for /1
Sign up if you want Canada to strengthen it's relationship with the EU or join the EU. Europeans are outraged by how Trump is treating Canada, so they created European Movement Canada to see if Canadians are interested. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-DeDk3eqk8
Corporate owned media has been suppressing news of our protest and civil unrest for years. People are in the streets. And the police are brutalizeing many of them.
No, but they do contribute to the mess down here. A huge chunk of our media is just solid propaganda.
Fortunately, Canada is doing a LOT of damage to our economy. Please, please keep it up. It's very hard for Trump to hide or dismiss that, and it makes the protests here a lot more effective.
It's not the media's fault. But they are owned by the same fascist who own our government. We have been in a state of civil unrest for years! But the news never reports on just how many protests there are and just how bad they can get. Here in Texas, things are so bad...
...That I have seen protests turn into large scale armed stand offs. Left and right armed to the teeth. With an army of riot cops in between. And the news reported nothing.
well he was voted in twice, right? like we can't say he's an aberration at this point. they only have two parties - one made up of evil ghouls and one that seems broadly competent but can't seem to stop the ghouls. so maybe the whole thing is just broken.
Voter suppression was a factor, not to mention unusual statistical aberrations in those swing states. It’s very odd that Musk’s kid, during an interview discussing the election, said they can do whatever they want at SpaceX, and nobody will ever know. And Trump said Musk knew the voting machines.
One point I keep seeing that drives me up the wall is pointing to voting rates, something like 89m people flat out didn't vote in the states and I've seen multiple people repost it saying they didn't vote for this... EXCUSE YOU??? VOTE ABSTINENCE IS AN AGREEMENT WITH THE WINNER
FOOLS! There’s a mechanism in some provinces that registers a protest vote without spoiling the ballot. Go to the polling station, register, let them hand you a ballot, then hand it back saying, ‘I’m declining my ballot.’ It will be counted as such, not like someone who just spoils it.
Let's see, either all six million of those people turned into petty shitheads or the people running the campaign did a shit job
Ockham's razor would suggest the more parsimonious explanation, so do you think it'd take more than six million people in the campaign making shit choices to explain it?
Sure.
Dems ran a shit candidate with shit policies and "not Trump" didn't turn out voters.
In a representative government you vote for the person who best represents your moral and political ideology.
If the people running don't do that, you don't vote.
Did this statistic include what state they were eligible to vote in? Because it's likely many of them had no ability to effect who won the electoral votes from their state
Your government is threatening our home, daily. You don't get the luxury of our consideration, sorry. This is the "find out" phase. If you don't want to face the consequences of your elected government's actions, maybe do literally anything to stop them, instead of blaming Canada.
Notably, while I know there's a LOT of protesting going on, I think I've seen more American "news" reporting of the US anthem being booed than I have of the protests against their gov.
Please, please do. Honestly, keep doing everything you can to wreck our economy — it's helping.
Too many Americans lots track of the basic concept that politics has consequences — our system had so many checks and stop-points that it took Republicans something like 40 years to break them all. /1
Now, the consequences are becoming obvious to more and more people. Ultimately, that'll help us. Many thanks for things like the "buy Canadian" initiative, not vacationing in the US, etc. /2
There's a whole lot of people that understood why "Not All Men" or "Not All White People" was bullshit who are having a super hard time understanding why "Not All Americans" is just as wrong.
Spicy. What about all the Americans who are doing literally anything? There are protests daily, campaigns of letter writing to officials, the media is hounding politicians.
77 million voted for Trump.
74 million didn't vote for Trump.
80 million didn't vote.
I don't doubt for a second that our "cousins from the south" would happily move in and buy Canadian vacation property for pennies on the dollar, like Crimea. It would happen very quickly after the invasion.

If woke is a slur to you fuck off
But this isn’t a representative government and it was elected democratically.
So.
I get why there is no edit function, but I really could use one.

(The level of propaganda is unreal, but it’s hard to lie about collapsing exports and tourism.)
You're still wrong, I got it right the first time.

Can you explain to me how Trump gets roughly the same # of votes but the dems loose out over 6m votes??

You're not right, you're actually wrong. Voter abstention doesn't mean a vote for anyone, it distinctly means a vote for no one. Don't be so obtuse.
This is why people don't vote
