Liberals didn't rely on carrots and land leases to get private sector building TMX. They created a crown corporation dedicated to getting it done.

I thought the plan was to get back into building? The feds used to build 20,000 units per year up until Mulroney killed that.
We'd have at leadt 640,000 more affordable homes if it wasn't for Mulroney cancelling the program. It's almost exactly what's missing.

The government should just build the houses. We’ve established that it’s unprofitable, so they’re not stealing business from anyone. They can employ the workers, give them a pension, do all the actual paperwork. Going through a private partnership layer is the definition of wasteful spending.

As long as most of the wealth that Canadians have is tied up in the value of their house no government will create a plan for more affordable housing and lower that value - it's political suicide to threaten house values with affordable housing.

Every plan will accomplish the exact opposite...

All my wealth is in my house. I have no savings whatsoever. I would happily take a reduction in what my house is worth if it means my adult children could afford rent.
