Spent ten years working in Aus so yeah I know. My comment was not in the intricacies of weather, but rather the national ideal. One's viewed as hot, the other is viewed as cold.

You know what, if we give people free poutine it might make mandatory voting go down easier. Add in *some* form of electoral reform (I like acceptability voting) and you got yourself a better democracy.

Acceptability voting: Vote for as many candidates as you want, and whoever is acceptable to the most people wins. It requires the fewest changes to the system and rewards broad appeal instead of extremism.
