Yesterday, before the G7 began, I had a productive call with Secretary Rubio. We discussed the Canada-U.S. relationship and the regional conflict in the Middle East. From economic priorities to defence and security, we will continue to work together to advance our shared priorities.

Canada has no choice but to work with the U.S.. Trump will not always be in power. Leaders are not expected to pick fights, but to figure out how best to help their country. It is up to streamers to provide the clickbait rage.

We have plenty of choices, honestly, and that's our only source of leverage. The US is relying on this mentality to bully us into doing whatever they want. I'm not saying they're not important or that we can ignore them, but can and need to decouple from them so this never happens again.
