People were brought up and educated on the Bible and slavery was common in antiquity. There was virtually no distinction between slave and servant. Robert E Lee's allegiance was more to his state than the US.

Not sure which God he is referencing, as slavery is specifically condoned in the Old Testament.

I agree that slavery is an abomination, and the Bible's acceptance of slavery is one of the main reasons I am not a Christian nor Jew nor Muslim

Yeah, a lot of folks don't get that being #indentured, which was basically what was done then, wasn't the same as #slavery. Still not awesome, but not the same. #Jubilee #DeuteronomicCode #CovenantCode made a huge difference. I seriously think we could take some #FinanceLessons from those aspects 🤔
