Currently absorbing 200MW. Unsure if the Stability function is completely live yet, it doesn't show a status via the BM like a lot of the others do, but that may or may not mean anything given the rest are rotary type - and this isn't.

For each time slot on the 'spot market' (day ahead) where gas powered power plants are needed to meet the demand, they sets the price.
If the number of time slots where gas is not needed, goes up, the number of cheaper time slots goes up, and the annual average price goes down.

And when the overall consumption of shipped, liquefied methane gas (LNG) reduces, it puts a downward pressure on the market price. The balance of supply and demand, will make it slightly easier to negotiate a cheaper price than when the demand of LNG seems to rise.

Yes true seems Cali had a number of smaller grid batteries by then but unsure if they were grid stabilisers or not. Point being the new Scottish battery is very welcome news and will help the UK grid in numerous ways, but is not the first grid battery by a long way.

I think that's a part of the mission "Expanded use of energy storage systems will reduce the use of electricity generated from fossil fuels to meet peak load requirements on days with high electricity demand" sounds like it. You're right re: Hornsdale, wild 5x the capacity a year later in CA!

Breaks my heart that we are held back by Westminster. Who knows who is in whose pocket on energy provision. Sizewell C - £40 Bn instead of £20 Bn. Hinkley Point- £46 Bn instead of £16 Bn. Completion moved out at least 5-6 years. Corruption in the form of lobbying/donations seem to be endemic.

Indeed! And at the same time, solar, wind and battery storage costs continue to decrease as volume production drives down production costs. Nuclear, Gas & Hydrogen , conversions to electricity are just too expensive? For goodness sake we get the sun and wind for free!!

Really, fuel is free and we can virtually put solar on any south facing roof(even in Scotland). We can still grow off-shore/on-shore wind, Hydro in Wales and Scotland and tidal all round the British Isles. Add storage in all sorts of forms - battery, pumped storage, hydro, sand etc Why nuclear,?
