Adhesive is more specific to bodywork. Rather than have a body panel or wheel well attached with twelve screws, it's attached with three and glue instead. But also in the article they talked about using common OEMs so you don't have bespoke items (like tie-rods) with limited inventory.
I talked with one of their brand managers at CES and was surprised at how strongly they pushed back when I mentioned VW and Rivian (partnered with VW). They were emphatic that this is not a VW clone: they say it's a separate brand "backed" (read: funded) by VW and using Rivian tech, no shared parts.

I guess glue is fine in places in vehicles you are not abusing off road
